Gentle Giant The Walking Dead Rick Grimes Mini-Bust Review

Another piece from Gentle Giant that arrived a few days after my Avengers Iron Man mini-bust was the Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead mini-bust!! WOW!! What an incredible run by Gentle Giant, every last piece I have received have had such incredible detail, design, and dastardly good shelf-poses! (From Gentle Giant’s website) “Imagine waking up one day and discovering that you’d missed the Apocalypse. That’s what happened to Rick Grimes. Once a Sheriff’s Department Deputy, he fell into a coma after being wounded in the line of duty. Upon waking up, he finds his town in ruins,  his family missing and the dead walking the Earth. Determined to survive, Rick must adapt to the new world around him. Difficult challenges face  him and his band of refugees as they struggle against impossible odds for their lives…and their humanity.” Gentle Giant also states the utterly correct phrase “boast(ing) an exact likeness of actor Andrew Lincoln in his Sheriff’s uniform as he appears in the pilot (episode)”. The absolute amazing detail and design put into this work is incredible. From his equipment belt featuring his walkie-talkie, and holsters for magazines, to the Sheriff badges and patches on his uniform, (which include his name and department), the revolver in hand with the likeness from the show, even his beard as Rick wakes up to in the pilot episode; the shadow and his expression showing the fear and skepticism when he first steps into the world of the Walkers. The Gentle Giant exclusive direct version also comes with his hat! The hat is removable and includes his Sheriff logo, as well as the screen-design of the shape and features. Roughly 6.5″ tall, this piece exaggerates more space with his right arm extended out, holding the revolver, aiming at a possible Walker or troublesome living; while his left arm hangs from the other side, fingers in the rolling position anticipating the next gun shot! For any fan of The Walking Dead, the Rick Grimes mini-bust must be added! Put him up read to fend off incoming Walkers, and soon you can purchase Daryl to be ready by his side! Gentle Giant Avengers Iron Man Mini-Bust Review

The famed Genius, Playboy, Billionaire Philanthropist can now be displayed on your shelves in his billionaire superhero armor! Gentle Giant brings you the next stage in assembling your very own Avengers mini-bust team with Iron Man! The latest MARVEL character released by GG, it is yet another magnificent and beautiful piece of art! Highly detailed, intricate points of positioning, and best of all: light up arc reactor and palms! As stated by Gentle Giant, the master artisans take high-resolution digital sculpts of Iron Man from the film, to bring the fans the most screen accurate mini-bust! Standing 7.5″ tall, with a pose ready for his pulse-attack, this truly shows off the best of Iron Man ‘s upper body. A well sized mini-bust, it is fairly light weight (cast in high quality polystone), so don’t worry about having thin shelves, but do be careful when handling. The Crimson Red of Iron Man’s armor is bright and shining, a sure stand out piece in any collectors’ shelf. A beautiful coat, surely to brighten a  collection and not to be missed by the wandering eye! The matt gold face and details throughout the torso and arms also give for a subtle change in the eyes so you are not concentrated on a blur of crimson. The light up features have to make this one of my favorite pieces; though I wish the eye holes would light up, the specs that do are well designed. The chest piece turns to a bright white, while the palms light up an ocean blue; with a darker room it stands out the most, but even in a well lit room, the mini-bust stands out more when the lights are turned on. The new Avengers Edition Iron Man mini bust is an incredible addition to ANY comic lover, especially those who are fans of Iron Man and the MARVEl universe. Even if you did not enjoy the film, this piece is definitely worth a spot on your shelf! (I apologize in advance for the poor quality images; had to use my Iphone5 instead of DSLR)

RIDDICK – Film Review

Vin Diesel’s niche film series has brought us it’s third film, RIDDICK.
Following after Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, Vin and director David Twohy return for their third film together, following the escaped convict on a new planet, calling bounty hunters to find him there.

I had the chance to watch Vin, Twohy, and Katie Sackhoff during their San Diego Comic-Con 2013 panel in the famed Hall H, and all the fans knew they were excited about this film.
But did the film really live up to expectations?

The film, as usual, follows Riddick on the run from another group of enemies, this time bounty hunters. He is deserted and left for dead on an unknown planet, with vicious creatures and no human life. After regaining strength, he finds an abandoned outpost and calls for a bounty team to toy with them, planning to steal their ship. So on and so forth, (I won’t spoil much) Riddick  finds a new best friend, kills people like his day job, and eventually. . . well go watch the movie to find out! (If you have not already!)

The story . . . the story is interesting; there is not much going on; in other words, you don’t necessarily have to see the first two films to understand the third. There are references to previous films, but it all plays out throughout RIDDICK.
Vin is still a tough, badass, but shows some care and kind-heartedness throughout a few points. A nice note since we saw how humble he was during his SDCC Panel and receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Vin definitely enjoys this series, because I do not think he would return for three films; money doesn’t discourage him (plus he scored big time from the Fast series and now MARVEL)

RIDDICK packs a punch with fun shoot-em-up scenes, a few fight scenes, and action scenes escaping the deathly creatures; the CGI was well used, and the dialogue. . . let’s just say don’t expect this to be a top-notch conversational film.

Vin will always be one of my top actors, and because I enjoy seeing him in films so much, and seeing him come back for more of RIDDICK, I humbly give the film a 7/10.
